Take some time and get to know our Director of Sales & Support, Miriam Voigt. Just like our CEO, Cat Riddle, Miriam has been a part of the Ventures Lending Technologies story from the beginning.

Q: Tell us about your role

A: The sales side of my job has me talking to lenders around the industry about their needs and how Ventures+ can help make their lives easier. The support side of my job puts me front and center with our current customers every day. Along with my team, I help solve their problems and make sure they are happy. We also conduct regular training sessions for both new and existing clients. Our training materials are second to none and my team is known for their world-class support.

Q: What is your favorite Ventures Lending Technologies software feature and why?

A: I’m a nerd. I like using the Ventures+ reporting engine to build reports and then export them to Excel. The reporting engine is great for surfacing data from the system. Excel gives me even more options to manipulate the data in useful ways. In a previous position, I was managing the SBA 504 loan funding department at CDC Small Business Finance, an affiliate company. I used loan log date tracking along with canned and custom reports to track cycle times against just about anything. It was the only way to keep sane.

Q: Describe the Ventures Lending Technologies team in 3 words.

A: Teamwork, Trust, and Accountability

Q: What were you doing before you came to Ventures Lending Technologies?

A: I joined CDC Small Business Finance in 1991 as a 9-hour a week job while I was in high school. I haven’t left! I started in the front office and built an Access database to generate closing documents for the paralegal in our office who was using a typewriter (yup – a typewriter). I felt she could benefit from doing data entry once and then merging to her closing forms (Cat Riddle ended up merging my fields to her database a couple of years later). I learned loan processing, moved onto generating closing docs, went back to loan processing, and finally ended up managing our 504 Funding Dept. All the while I was helping Cat with the various iterations of our database/platform and she finally lured me to the software team full time in 2011.

Q: What is the best part of your job?

A: The interaction with all our lenders, learning their processes and what makes them tick.

Q: What are your thoughts on technology and how it can help lenders achieve better relationships with small business owners?

A: Technology is a tool that if used correctly can help streamline processes. Ventures+ solves for that by having everything your loan needs in one platform. From application gathering to underwriting to document storage to servicing compliance and payments! If you’re efficient in the way you manage your loans, there’s more time for the lender to focus on helping small businesses.

Q: What inspires you?

A: Love

Q: What do you like to do for fun?

A: I love doing anything with my nieces (i.e. rugrats)
